8-2-2026: WOOLLOOWARE GC – 2 MAN AMBROSE

WINNERS: BRAYDEN HARYS & JOHN VARRICA 60 NETT

Today’s event was a great deal of fun for all involved. The day started however, with messages of rain flooding through on the group chat early in the morning. Our secretary made the necessary calls to the pro shop and the go ahead for the game was given.
The rain was a light drizzle throughout the round and nobody got too wet. Play started from the first hole and the rules were preferred lies through the green, white markers and 6 tee shots minimum from both team members.
The winners today with a mighty round of even par off the stick for a score of 60 nett, were John Varrica [10] and Brayden Harys [26]. What we witnessed today was an up a coming fine player in Brayden. He is by far the longest hitter in the club and today his drives were not only long (one was measured at 280 metres), but very accurate as well. If he ever gets his short game in order,
Brayden will be a very dangerous golfer. Johnny V was like Pepe Le Piu just quietly tagging on and enjoying the ride. Contrary to popular opinion, Johnny did also contribute a few good shots.
The runners up were Jay Krishna and Dean Heffernan with a nett score of 60.5. Well played fellas.
The Guzzlers Cup was won by Santo Sammarco and Phil Heaton with the score of 62. They would have done much better but with Phil still needing to get one shot more in, he put it in the water on the last. They had no choice but to take the penalty and play from there. That cost them the victory, possibly.
The Bradmans today were Steve Vaughn and Troy Young with the score of 71.5.
We have a 2-week break before we travel to Links Shell Cove for the first round of the single matchplay championship. A reminder that only the top 16 available players from the final leaderboard of 2025 are qualified to play. Everyone else will play in the day’s event which will be stableford. Keep an eye out for the booking notification later in the week.
The leaderboard will be published when ready.
Keep smiling and keep swinging,
The Prez.
