Today was a new experience for a lot of players as the course was one that many have never played or they played it a long time ago. The course was Woodville Golf Club and I must say that the feedback from a lot of members was that it was a pleasant surprise. Obviously, those that didn’t play too well had a different opinion.
With most of the members not expecting much, the course presented itself very well. The fairways were lush, and the greens were smooth and quick. It was no walk in the park either with its very tight tree lined fairways, hidden water hazards and small elevated greens putting a premium on accuracy.
The round itself was quite slow due to the club allowing a group of 6 players from another social club slowing proceedings dramatically.
The leading groups today were paired in the order of their standings on the club championship table. That is so that the leading players in all 3 grades could gauge how they were travelling against there closest competitor.
At the end of the round the players congregated in the Woodville pub next door for the presentation.
The outright winner today was Santo Sammarco [10] with a fine score of 70 nett.
A grade winner was John Varrica [11] with 74 nett
B Grade winner was Seb Ares [16] with 72 nett
C Grade winner was Wayne Jol [26] with 72 nett
The guzzlers Cup went to Mark McSwiney [16] 73 nett c/b
The Bradmans today were……………………………
A Grade – Jim Gardner 84 nett c/b
B Grade – Jay Krishna 77 nett
C Crade – Mick McCarney 81 nett
Next game is at Macarthur Grange on 19/10/25 at 6:15am bookings are now open.
We are still looking for players to come to Highlands GC for the Hogan McKeough Sheil against Canberra Labour Club. Please contact Michael Kabalan if you can come. Your club and committee need your support.
