OUTRIGHT WINNER: DEAN HEFFERNAN{ 20] 41 PTS
Todays round saw 31 players show up for an early 5:50am start. The reason being was that our initial booking had not been confirmed by the club and only for some robust negotiations by our secretary Santo were we able to get a start today, albeit a lot earlier than originally booked for.
On top of this, the course was staging a major pennants competition which added some unnecessary pressure on the pace of play and coupled with the high temperature, didn’t make for a very enjoyable round for some.
The first group teed off at 6:15am from the white tees and preferred lies on fairways only were the rules of the day, that is if you could distinguish fairway from rough. The course was not in the greatest of condition and a rethink about whether to play here again should be considered by the match committee.
The outright winner today with a great score of 41 points off a hcp of 20 was Dean Heffernan who breaks through for his first win since joining not so long ago. Well done.
The A grade winner was the ever impressive Mark Donovan playing off a hcp of 8 and scoring a fantastic 40pts.
B Grade was won by Steve Floyd whose name was on most of the NTPs today. Playing off 18 hcp, Steve shot a great score of 39 points.
C Grade was won by Craig Franklin with a score of 37pts off 22 hcp. He was a bit hot and cold but did produce what was arguably the shot of the year so far on the last. He pulled his shot left, narrowly missed a telegraph pole, ran along the pathway, hit a rock and ricochet onto the green only a metre from the hole only to miss the putt.

The Guzzlers Cup winner was Mitchell Floyd playing off 11 hcp with a score of 37 points. This was Mitchells first game of the year and I’m sure it won’t be his last podium finish.
Thank you to all the members that booked in for today. The numbers today were the best in many years and the committee thanks everyone for their terrific support in tough times.
