OUTRIGHT WINNER: PTERE DAVIS [23] 44PTS
30 players showed up for today’s round at the very popular Ridge GC. The draw had been split into 2 main groups to allow for the late arrival of those playing in the later groups, but due to the pro shop’s poor organising, it meant that we were all waiting around anyway.
The course was in great shape, but bunkers were out of play and contributed to many great scores coming in. The weather was hot and humid which I am sure to a toll on many a player, especially the walkers.
The highlights of the day were the great BBQ put on by Rossco Hamer and Peter Davis for the boys. The lamb and chicken kebabs as well as the pork sausages went down very well. Thanks for the effort boys.
The 2ndhighlight was an eagle 2 by Mick McCarney on the 1st hole. Mick was a bit disappointed with the distance that he got off the tee but his approach shot landed softly on the rough in front of the green and then proceeded to trickle down onto the green and into the hole.
The Outright winner today was someone that practices at the Ridge most Friday afternoons and it is beginning to show in his play there.
That player was Peter Davis with a great score of 44 points of a hcp of 23. The handicapper surely has to take notice of this performance.
A Grade was won by one of our long hitters and that was Adam Giltinan off an 11 hcp shooting 42 points. Well played.
The B Grade winner was eagle boy Mick McCarney with a great score of 41 points off 19 hcp. He was on fire all round and also took out one of the heavy weights (Santo Sammarco) in the matchplay.
The C Grade winner was another whose handicap needs scrutinising and that was big Bob Mallia with a great score of 40 points of 24 hcp.
The guzzlers cup winner was the form player of the moment, Mark Donovan. Mark shot another very impressive 41 points playing off a hcp of 8. Mark also won his matchplay against Steve Floyd and is now firming in the betting market as the favourite for the event.
