26-APR-2015: BANKSTOWN GC-SINGLE STABLEFORD

NEAREST THE PIN W.COLEMAN

OUTRIGHT WINNER
W.COLEMAN

After a week of cyclonic conditions in Sydney, the course was found to be a little saturated in areas but otherwise in reasonable condition. The use electric carts was not allowed and with the majority of bunkers out of play (GUR) and “preferred lie through the green” rule invoked, the course defences were somewhat weakened. Chipping around the greens would be easier and the slower than normal greens would cut down on the three-putts.

The days event would be single stableford as well as the 2nd round of the last man standing. With groupings all organised, the members made their way to the 10th tee to commence the round.

With rounds completed in a timely manner, all players congregated in the club house to hear the results announced by the Captain, Steve Vaughn.

The outright winner today with a terrific score of 41pts was Wayne ‘Stonecold’ Coleman. Wayne has been playing very well of late and it was only a matter of time before he would top the standings.

A grade was won by another consistent golfer known to all as the ‘Assassin’.  Playing off a handicap of 15, Ryan Cassin once again destroyed Bankstown GC with his power and precision and is now firming in the betting for the ‘Pointscore’ championship.

B grade was taken out by a member who has been MIA quite a bit this year but when he does play, Joy Mesuria is a great chance of winning. He has had the flu recently, but showed no signs of illness today to shoot a very respectable 37pts C/B to win his division.

The C Graders were all missing in action today so there were no winners or losers.

The ever popular Guzzlers Cup was won by one of our newer members Graham Deane with another top score of 37pts C/B. We think that Graham might just take advantage of this trophy as he was seen asking big Mark Connolly on the finer points of how the rules work.

The Bradmans today had a committee feel to it with the A grade bunny going to the President, John Varrica with a paltry 28pts and B grade taken out by the Captain, Steve Vaughn with a measly score of 26pts.

From the eight members still remaining in the ‘Last Man Standing’, the foursome of R.Cassin, I.Lindberg, C.Poletti and M.Connolly advance to the final to be played at Bankstown on mothers day.

Once again we commend those who made the effort to turn up and support the club, and also all of  the members who lent a hand with various chores on the day.
