Today’s round was the last competition day for the year and, on the line was the Player of The Year title that would be contested by the leading four players on the pointscore table. Michael Kabalan & Manny Petris were equal leaders with Santo Sammarco 1 point behind them. The dark horse was Joy Mesuria who stood just 6 points behind. A maximum of 8 points was on offer, but none of the foursome was able to post a respectable score so, only received 3 points each for attendance.
A countback was required to separate the two leaders. Attendance for the year was equal, outright wins were equal so it went to 7pt rounds where Michael pipped Manny by 4 rounds to 3.
Congratulations to Michael Kabalan who on 122 points c/b, is the 2024 Pointscore Player of The Year. Well done .
In the day’s event, the conditions made the course play a lot longer than it should haveand it was reflected in the scores today.
The outright winner today was John Varrica [10] with a solid 38pts. John thought that scores would have been better all round and was surprised to have the best score. He is playing well and is ruing having to miss last week’s round due to family commitments.
The A Grade winner was Stephen Floyd with a very handy 36 points off a 14 hcp. He was not as straight with the driver today but recovered well to record the win.
B Grade was won by the ever improving and soon to be A grader, Bob Mallia. Bob is now playing off 17 and this it seems id not slowing him down at all. Bob had 33 pts.
C Grade was won by the Duke, Wayne Jol. He is up and down like a yo yo this year but shot a respectable 32 pts to win his division.
The Bradmans were ……….
A – Santo Sammarco – 24pts
B – Peter Macaulay – 18pts
C – Rossco Hamer – 27pts
Next week is the final event of the year and, it is the Xmas Ambrose event at Georges river GC which will be followed by the Xmas/Presentation lunch at Gasparo’s Restaurant.
Could all of the sponsors that pledged donations please bring the cash next week and as usual, we will be having a raffle. The club will supply wine and chocolates for the raffle but would like any gift donations from members that they can spare to add to the prizes.
Thank you all for a great year and I look forward to celebrating with you all next week.
