5-5-24: LIVERPOOL GC-STABLEFORD

OUTRIGHT WINNER: SEB ARES [15] 39PTS

Hi Guys,

Today saw us play for the last time at Liverpool GC as it will no longer accommodate social players after it’s merger with Kogarah GC.

26 players were slated to play but due illness, sleep ins and those afraid of the rain, only 19 actually played and we were lucky to not get fined for the reduced number.

As it turned out, the predicted deluge never eventuated, and it was in fact a great day for golf. The course was in mint condition and a pleasure to play on.

The outright winner today was the handicapper Seb Ares with a terrific score on this difficult course. He shot 39 pts off a handicap of 13 and assured himself of a lower handicap for the Hunter Trip.

A grade was won by Adam Giltinan (10) 38 pts. Another losing strokes for the trip away. Well played.

B grade winner was Brian Craven (23) with 36 pts. Brian has made it a habit of winning on a regular basis of late.

C grade was won by Ken Tyne (24) with a score of 29pts. If you are going to win before a trip away, this is how you do it. Collect the cash, and actually gain strokes for the trip.

The guzzlers cup which is the best prize to win before a trip away was won by the sneaky Manny Petris (9) with 36pts. Manny also had 3 birdies and is now comfortably the favourite for the a grade birdie champion title at years end.

A grade Bradman was John Varrica with 31 points, totally undeserved I say.

B grade Bradman was Bob Mallia with probably his worst round in a while being 21 pts.

C grade Bradman was Pat Collins who actually equalled the c grade winning score only to get the gong on a countback.

The handicaps for the Hunter Valley trip will be released soon as this weekend was the the cut off.
