It has been a long time between drinks but we were back at Bankstown GC and it was again in pristine condition with lush fairways and lightning quick greens.

Today’s event was Individual stableford in conjunction with the semi finals of the 4BBB Matchplay Championship.

32 members showed up for this event proving that Bankstown is by far and away our most popular venue.

Top of the heap today was John McDonald with a terrific score of 41pts. John seems to play his best golf here and with a place in the 4BBB final at stake, he knuckles down and actually plays some terrific golf. Well done big fella.

The next best score was shot by the B Grade winner Steve Vaughn who shot an impressive 39pts. Steve has been struggling with some health issues of late and it is great to see him doing so well.

The C grade winner was Noel Connolly with a score of 36 pts. An honest golfer I say.

A grade was won by Gary Buckley with another fine score of 35 pts.

The guzzlers cup went to Claude Poletti with 35 pts. This was a very good prize to win as he and Steph Suzor got beat in their matchplay and would help ease Claude’s pain.

We won’t waste any ink on the Bradmans performances so we will post only pictures of their sorry heads.

Today was also the semi finals of the 4BBB matchplay championship.

Match 1 saw the recently crowned 2BBB champions John McDonald & Jeff Hilder up against Claude Poletti & Steph Suzor. The following match report was forwarded by John McDonald….

It might have been a round of the Ryda Cup with Malta ( Steph) Italy (Claude) Germany ( Jeff) and Scotland ( Macca) competing to go into the final of the 4BBB final.

Great start by the eventual winners. Jeff and John were 3up after 3 holes. Claude Poletti was having no thoughts of a white wash. knocking in 2 birdies to at one stage level the match.

Then the famous saying appeared F..K you Macca as the large handicap (29) finally broke the deadlock with Jeff & Macca winning 2&1 giving the boys a great chance of winning both the 2 and 4 ball championships in the same year.

Match 2 saw newbies Dennis May & Mark McSwinney up against the two current pointscore leaders being Rossco Hamer & Peter Davis.  Not much is known about this match except fot the fact that it was a very tight game with the new boys Dennis & Mark winning 1up. Well done boys and good luck in the final………..your gonna need it.
