27-29 MAY 2022: 2022 HUNTER VALLEY TOUR

2022 HUNTER VALLEY CHAMPION-BOB MALLIA [32] 114PTS

2022 Hunter Valley Tour Championship results.
After nearly 7 months of planning and much angst because of the recent and non stop rain that has closed many courses over the last 3 months, the tour went ahead without a hitch. The weather turned out to be spectacular and without a drop of rain to be seen. The temperature for this time of the year was extremely comfortable and for the first time in a long time we were able to play 3 x 18 hole games in a row.
Many great moments were had by our attendees and the service given to us at the resort was fantastic.
The champion for 2022 is one of the club’s newer members who has fitted in very well and is genuinely excited about being a part of our club.
Congratulations to Bob Mallia  playing off a handicap of 32bwho shot and aggregate score of 114 to win the championship.

2022 Hunter Valley Tour Championship results. Day 1 – The Vintage GC.
Players arrived to play this difficult Greg Norman designed golf course for a 9:30 tee time. The course had been affected by the constant rain over the last three months and was a little soft and soggy. Carts were allowed out but restricted to the paths which made it a little tiring and it also played extremely long.
The golf course is magnificent but extremely difficult and as a result caused the scores to be low. The weather though was perfect and we were grateful that we could even play on the course given the recent weather conditions.

2022 Hunter Valley Tour Championship results Day 2: Hunter Valley GC.
After a great night of bonding at Cypress Lakes Resort, the boys awoke on Saturday morning for the included buffet breakfast before making their way to HVGC for a 9am start.
Again and because of the recent weather, carts had only been allowed for the last 2 days and were also restricted to cart paths. This course was not as grand as the previous one but it was very playable with better run on the fairways. The weather was once again glorious and the expected storms never eventuated. Thus resulted in the scores being much higher

2022 Hunter Valley Tour Championship results. Day 3: Cypress Lakes Resort
A lot of sore heads rolled up bright and early for breakfast and for the final day of the championship.
The final groups were paired in order of rank to date and teeing off best to worst.
Once again and like the previous 6 times, Cypress didn’t disappoint and was as majestic as ever. Carts were allowed on the fairways and with only a few restrictions. The weather once again was spectacular and scores were expected to be high.
