12 very brave Revesby golfers arose very early this morning in readiness for the long journey to Goulburn GC for the return match of the PFA Cup challenge. This was the first time since the covid -19 outbreak that Revesby had visited the town. If the journey didn’t feel so bad, the near zero degree temperature would jolt the senses.
Tee off was at 7:00am with groups comprising of 2 players from each club.
The course was in good condition and the greens were quite quick. Play was from the blue tees which added a dimension that the Revesby boys had not been accustomed to and that was the length of the course.
Play was completed in good time and players then congregated at Goulburn Workers Club for a feed, some drinks and the all-important presentation ceremony.
We are happy to announce that Revesby Workers were the victorious club with a winning average of 32 points to 29 points meaning that we avoid the losers trophy.
The outright winner for Revesby was Matt Campbell with an amazing score of 40 points. Apparently, Matt’s driving was on fire which saw him hitting huge bombs and his approaches and putting were pretty good as well.
The A grade winner was John Varrica playing off a 10 handicap and shooting 38 pts.
B grade was won by Mark McDonald with the score of 31 points who also had the rare distinction of winning the B grade Bradmans award as he was also the lowest score in that grade due to the lack of other B graders.
C grade was won by Wayne Jol who shot a very respectable 36 points. Known as The Duke, it is obvious that he didn’t fire any blanks today.
The Guzzlers cup was won by Seb Ares with 37 points but it didn’t cost any of the members as drinks were on the house.
The Bradmans were A – Steve Floyd 30pts c/b B – Mark McDonald 31pts C- Ken Tyne 27pts.
A big thankyou to Goulburn Workers for their hospitality and camaraderie. We thoroughly enjoy playing against these guys and can’t wait to do it again next year at Moss Vale.
Also, many thanks to the members who made the effort to support our club by attending today’s event. It was far, it was cold and it was very early, but you all did good.
