WINNERS: M.McCARNEY & T.YOUNG 45PTS C/B
A cracking day awaited the members this morning at the very challenging Camden Lakeside golf course. The course was in terrific condition with lush fairways and fast greens.
The roll up for the event was very good with 28 players teaming up for the first major championship of the year. The 2BBB is a team event where you can pick your partner and is scored using the best ball of the 2 in the stableford format. The team with the best 2 round aggregate score will be declared the champions.
Going on the winning scores, the boys came out to play today as the competition was of a very high standard.
The winners today with a score of 45 points on a countback from 2 other teams were Mick McCarney & Troy Young. Fortunately for the rest of the field, they are unable to play in the 2nd round.
Runners up on 45 points as well were the team consisting of the 2 Johnnys. John Varrica & John McDonald are always considered to have no chance but have somehow been runners up the in the last 2 years. This year might be the year this changes and they go on to win the big prize.
The Guzzlers were Santo Sammarco & Michael Kabalan who also scored 45 points. These guys might be the favourites but only if boom boom Santo gets his driver to behave. Mick might chip in a few points as well.
The Bradmans were Jason Christie & Craig Flint. Many at presentation were asking if they actually played all 18 holes as their score of 32 points was somewhat surprisingly low. Heads up boys, youwill only need to shoot around 60 points next round to have a chance.
A big thanks to Joy Mesuria for getting the groups organised and his assistant Mathew Campbell for collecting the money this morning.
