11-8-24: THE RIDGE GC-STABLEFORD

OUTRIGHT WINNER: SANTO SAMMARCO [10] 39PTS

Alarms were set to go off very early this morning, some were very worried about losing some beauty sleep.

The first group teed off at 6:20am in very good light, and seeing that there was going to be a BBQ after the game, the group consisted of the cooks for the day led by Rossco Hamer.

The weather was quite fresh to start with but later turned into a spectacular winters’ day. The course was in good shape but the dew caused a bit of trouble on the greens with most players expecting them to be a lot faster than they were.

After the round, the members were treated to hamburgers that were cooked to perfection and some drinks to wash them down.

The event today was single stableford, and the outright winner with a great score of 39 points and an eagle on the 18th was, Santo Sammarco playing off a handicap of 10.

A grade was won by captain fantastic Joy Mesuria with a good score of 35 points. He has worked out that if he upsets Rossco in the morning that it gives him the impetus to play extra well.

B grade was won by Wayne Coleman playing off 18hcp and shooting 36 points. He leaves for Thailand for his next stint there and after winning 2 weeks in a row might give some other B grader the chance to win.

The C grade winner was Pat Collins [24] with 34 points. This was quite a surprise after not playing so well during the previous few games.

The Guzzler was Manny Petris [9] with 34 points. Unfortunately for him, drinks were on the house so he couldn’t really hit anyone up.

Next week we head off to Goulburn for the return leg of the PFA Cup and we hope to win against the Goulburn Workers Club boys and avoid the loser’s trophy. I know that it is a longish trip, an early rise and could be quite cold, but I’d like to thank the members that have booked in to play in this event.
